The arboriculture profession tends to emphasize the extreme consequences of a three part failure. While a rare situation, they drive much of our decisions. A review of the multiple ordinal risk rating systems used in the United States has found number of glaring instrument design issues that poorly inform your understanding of tree risk. Careful consideration of these issues serve to better enhance arborist understanding of the complex issue of risk as we move forward with more current tools.
