Facts or fantasy? The science behind popular tree care products
Wednesday May 4th, 9:00am, Innovation/Communication Breakout (Tomorrowland)
Arborists can quickly lose their credibility (and business) by promoting tree care products that aren’t supported with credible science. This seminar will provide arborists with some guidelines for evaluating articles, books, and electronic resources objectively. We’ll then use those guidelines to evaluate some products and practices of interest to arborists everywhere.
Dr. Linda Chalker-Scott has a Ph.D. in Horticulture from Oregon State University and is an ISA certified arborist and an ASCA consulting arborist. She is WSU’s Extension Urban Horticulturist and an Associate Professor. Linda is the author of four books, most recently publishing How Plants Work: The Science Behind the Amazing Things Plants Do. She and her academic colleagues host “The Garden Professors” blog and Facebook pages, through which they educate and entertain an international audience.
